About: The Host

Just Julie

The Host
Straight from Rockaway Beach, New York, this honest little spitfire had her first drunken episode at the ripe old age of twelve. Realizing she had a problem with substance abuse, however, was only the beginning of Jules' quest through sobriety. As the saying goes, where angels walk, trouble surely follows.

Meet rigorously honest “Sober Julie".

This gal has a lot of heart, passion, and honesty, and, as her mother always said it, trouble was her middle name. Our very own short-stop went from extreme abuse, poverty, and neglect, starting out on her own at the age of fifteen with stars in her eyes and a desire to change the world, to hopping on a bus from New York all the way to LA, where her dreams of being an aspiring actress quickly landed her the career as a spunky, hard-working, every-day waitress. It was then that she found out that her true purpose in life was her great desire to bring others hope in times of despair.

The only trophy she ever won was in the sixth grade; engraved in this treasure were the big, bold letters:

“Excellence in Human Relations”

Seeking earnest her God, she looked for inspiration in the words that had been handed to her that grammar school day.

It would be many more years to come before she realized what the secret, coded message entailed…

..Julie simply excelled at being human.

Her true desire, to bring hope to a world lost in despair and heart-ache, was birthed from her endless reflections of broken dreams, missed opportunities, and foolish choices as she struggled to overcome her own inner demons. Through this, she discovered that the only way she would find any true meaning for her life was to inspire others to never give up on their dreams. That is Julie’s dream.

As her favorite writer, Og Mandino, would have put it, “You do not pick your calling, your calling picks you.” She once heard it said, “When you find what you are supposed to be doing, it is as easy as breathing air.”

She had one boss that saw her abilities and potential, who gave her these lasting words:

“Julie, if you could only find what it is you are supposed to be doing, there would be no stopping you; and always remember, the choices you make today will determine the life you live tomorrow.”

-Rick Woods

Julie’s ever going act of connecting, relating, and offering of inspiration to others is the very life force that sustains her. No matter how far you have been beaten down by this world’s system, where there is life, there is hope, and where you find the desire and will to try, there lies the seed in which your dreams flourish into fruition.

Her down to earth attitude along with her gratitude for faith, sobriety, family, and second chances, make her the perfect host that you are able to connect with, and a true friend you will never be able to forget.

-Interview inspired by actual quotes.

About: Radio Bio

Radio background
Jules started her radio career on a 10,000 Watt AM station in Texas reaching through Louisiana. Unknown to her at the time she had quickly developed a large audiance that identified with her down-to-earth, spontaneous, silly self.

Within six months, she had entered a talent search for an FM morning show that needed a co-host. She became the "Unknown DJ".

Her first television appearance had her with a bag over her head. The joke that callers used to make the most was, "how ugly is the unknown DJ that she has to wear a bag over her head!".

Julie then decided to go into a hard rock station, just for the enjoyment in a different atmosphere.

Her addiction to alcohol quickly spiraled out of control. She had never thought about returning to radio.

...until now.
